Who Are We?
DeKalb Reformed Baptist Church is a community of Christians who seek to love God and our fellow man. We gather weekly for two primary reasons: to worship God in Spirit and Truth and to make disciples. We believe that God's grace is communicated to us through ordinary means, especially the Word of God, Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and Prayer. Each week we confess our sins to God, receive the assurance of His forgiveness, sing Psalms and hymns, and fellowship as the Body of Christ awaiting the final return of our Lord and Savior. No matter where you are in life, we welcome you to join us for worship.
Congregational Worship
The assembling of God's people is a time of congregational participation. Scripture tells us to build one another up toward Christ. When we gather with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we want to hear their voices and to see their faces that we can encourage one another in love as we worship God together. We do not want to send our kids into a separate room because we believe that the worship of God and the assembling of God's people is for the whole family.
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." - Heb 10:24–25.
Family Worship
While the church is central to the lives of the believer, the most common place where discipleship and the worship of God occurs is in the home. Parents should be leading their families to the Lord through prayer, God's Word, and song, while teaching their children the doctrines of the Christian faith.
"You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth." -Deuteronomy 11:19–21
Evangelism
The overflow of true Christian fellowship is to tell our neighbors about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Each person who has been given the Holy Spirit is someone who represents God in their lives.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." - 2 Corinthians 5:17–20
